Minutes

It was a bit of a struggle to get the first meeting started due to setup issues - both Andy and Eric could not get their microphones going, so they ended up the chat box instead. Mental note to all others - make sure your mike works.....

The group felt that the items listed above are the correct ones to address. However, things like class rules will have to come later when the design becomes more clear.

Organization charter is first priority - we need to establish a good representation of the vision of the designer, the builder and the owners in order to build from there up.

Regarding the international nature of the class. Suggestion was to approach the class organization compliant with ISAF, so as to not preclude that. General feeling is that ISAF may not be too cost effective in these early days.

The group recognized the need to have the involvement of Hiptrader LLC. I informed the group that Brian Stevens has been appointed as the representative to the class organization.

Even though we agreed that it is way too early for class rules - there were comments surrounding the CF mast - with consensus that CF mast is preferred since mixed AL & CF in the fleet would not work.

There was a suggestion to talk to the officials of other class orgs (goo and bad) to learn from their experiences. And not to repeat their mistakes. e.g. some classes (in this case J105) picked non-optimal sail materials that cannot even last half a season, and the boat performance fluctuated with sail age.

Motion for adjournment at the end of 1hr. Seconded. Closed.

Actions

Jerry kindly volunteer to lead the first team to work on the organization charter. (Anyone interested, please contact Jerry aka "Alerion28" to discuss this further)
